Abstract
Perioperative management of cardiovascular medications, particularly antithrombotic agents, plays an important role in patients undergoing non-cardiac surgery. This prospective cross-sectional study was conducted on 229 patients receiving chronic cardiovascular medications and undergoing elective surgery at Hanoi Medical University Hospital from October 2025 to January 2026 to evaluate the appropriateness of perioperative medication use. The proportion of patients receiving cardiovascular medications appropriately according to the hospital protocol was 77.3%. Among 44 patients using antithrombotic agents, the overall appropriateness according to the 2022 ESC guidelines was 56.8%, with most inappropriate cases related to drug discontinuation timing and bridging anticoagulation strategies. The findings indicate that antithrombotic management remains challenging and requires further standardization in clinical practice.
