Abstract

Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) is an advanced imaging technique designed to evaluate cardiovascular morphology, heart function, and tissue characteristics. CMR is applicable in cardiomyopathies, cardiac ischemia, arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy, congenital heart disease, pericardial diseases, and cardiac tumors. It is is considered a non-invasive biopsy providing essential information about myocardial tissue characteristics. This article reviews the current role of CMR in prognostic assessment and strategic treatment for cardiovascular diseases. Additionally, it provides updates on novel techniques and the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the cardiac imaging diagnostics.
