Abstract

This article reviews three of the most pivotal studies on the advancement of cardiac arrhythmia treatment in 2023, addressing the need for safer methods that ensure no loss in efficacy. The MANIFEST-PF survey reflects the “real world” performance of pulsed field ablation, which does not only prove to be an efficacious method of pulmonary vein isolation but also expresses a safety profile consistent with the demonstrated preferential tissue ablation. Another important trial of transcatheter ablation in patients with Brugada syndrome shows that complete ablation of abnormal electrical potentials is able to normalize the ECG and prevent both spontaneous and induced ventricular arrhythmias. The third study presents the sex-specific outcomes of left bundle branch area pacing (LBBAP) versus biventricular pacing (BVP), in which women patients requiring cardiac resynchronization therapy obtained significantly greater reduction in the combined endpoint of death of heart failure hospitalization with LBBAP compared with BVP than did men patients.
