Abstract
Research Objective: To determine the prevalence and assess the role of ultrasound in screening for fetal cardiac abnormalities at the Prenatal Diagnosis Center of the National Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital. Research Method: A retrospective descriptive cross-sectional study using ultrasound to assess fetal cardiac abnormalities in 204 pregnant women who underwent ultrasound examinations at the Prenatal Diagnosis Center of the National Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital from September 2023 to December 2023. Results: The average maternal age in the study was 29.32 ± 6.06 years, the average gestational age was 24.34 ± 5.31 weeks, the prevalence of common congenital heart defects was 32.84% ventricular septal defect, 19.61% Tetralogy of Fallot, 13.73% ventricular hypoplasia, and 12.25% transposition of the great vessels. 75% of cases were isolated congenital heart defects, while the remainder were associated with abnormalities in other organs.
