Abstract

Objective: To investigate the Stress Hyperglycemia Ratio (SHR) and its associated factors in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Subjects and methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 57 non-diabetic STEMI patients admitted to the National Heart Institute – Bach Mai Hospital between September 2023 and July 2024. Blood glucose and HbA1c levels were collected. Results: The mean SHR was 1.10 ± 0.40. Patients with higher SHR (Q4) had a significantly increased risk of cardiovascular events compared to those with lower SHR (Q1). The in-hospital event rate was 42%, including heart failure (24.6%), arrhythmias (19.3%), cardiogenic shock (10.5%), and a one-month mortality rate of 3.5%. Factors such as age, sex, and HbA1c were significantly associated with SHR. Conclusion: SHR is an important prognostic indicator for STEMI patients and should be integrated into clinical practice to improve risk prediction and patient management.
