Sodium glucose co-transporter 2 inhibition following acute myocardial infarction and in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus with hypertension

Abstract

Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors have been shown to improve cardiovascular outcomes in patients with heart failure, patients with type 2 diabetes at high cardiovascular risk, and patients with chronic kidney disease. However, the effectiveness and safety of this group of drugs in patients with acute myocardial infarction are still unknown. Additionally, their ability to control blood pressure in patients with type 2 diabetes and hypertension remains to be determined.
