Abstract

Cardiovascular risk stratification is an essential evaluation for physicians in tailoring specific treatment objectives for individual patients. SCORE2-Diabetes was developed to predict the 10-year risk of cardiovascular disease in individuals with type 2 diabetes. Additionally, the PREVENT Equations were derived and validated to predict the 10-year and 30-year risk of total cardiovascular disease (including atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease and heart failure) in adults aged 30 to 79 years. These tools support the approach to screening, risk assessment, prevention, and treatment strategies for cardiovascular disease. The lack of evidence supporting the efficacy, especially in stroke prevention, of beta-blockers in reducing cardiovascular outcomes is notable. Therefore, adhering to current treatment guidelines when prescribing beta-blockers as first-line therapy in hypertension is crucial to optimize patient outcomes. Recent positive studies in various aspects of cardiovascular prevention, particularly in dyslipidemia management in 2023, lay a fundamental premise for enhancing cardiovascular outcomes in the future.
